Who can be a KBtL Educator?

</aside>

The simple answer is anyone who is passionate and has an idea.

More specifically, KBtL brings in Educators (presenters, panel, event, and social hosts) who are marginalized and dedicated to incorporating their marginalized identities into their kink practice and education.

Marginalization within a BDSM context differs from mainstream marginalization and/or legal marginalization. It is also inclusive of geographical and cultural standards and addresses identities and experiences that when combined with kink/BDSM renders people who hold them marginalized. To read more about how KBtL classifies marginalization, please check it out on the KBtL website.

Is there any identity that KBtL prioritizes more than others?

</aside>

Technically yes. KBtL prioritizes Educators whose identities are different from mainstream, patriarchal, white, cultural standards, such as (but not limited to) BIPOC, non-male, non-cisgender, non-heterosexual/heteroromantic identities, folks living outside of North America, and folks with various forms of disabilities/neurodivergences.

Additionally, folks who hold multiple marginalizations are prioritized to be Educators and/or offered paid Educator slots at KBtL.

This does not mean that people who hold any non-marginalized identities would not be offered space. In fact, KBtL specifically looks for a range of identities in its Educators. What it does mean is that if two people apply with the same session topic, the priority will go to the person who is more marginalized, not the one with more teaching experience.

Are there any limitations on how often an Educator can teach at KBtL?

</aside>

KBtL Educators may only teach for KBtL for 3 years in a row. After 3 years, Educators may still sit on panels, host social sessions, volunteer and attend, but they must take at least 1 year off from teaching their own content for KBtL.

This allows KBtL to bring in a vast variety of kink Educators.

What else is KBtL looking for in Educators?

</aside>

KBtL values Educators for whom diversity in kink is their passion, and who will engage in their session(s) and other sessions and KBtL spaces with enthusiasm.

KBtL attendees notice when Educators are only engaged during their own session(s).
