What is an Incident?

Sometimes, an incident occurs during the conference that requires a staff member to handle the issue. Those incidents are usually unexpected and/or can have a detrimental effect on attendees, educators, volunteers, staff, or Kink Between the Lines’ (KBtL) reputation, safety, or security. It can also be a situation in which the intentional or unintentional action or inaction of one or more people causes harm to one or more people. Incidents can be minor or major.

Incidents can include, but are not limited to the following:

• Educators, Staff, or Volunteers being tardy or absent
• Last-minute cancellations or changes
• Technical difficulties or glitches
• Shift Coverage
• Harassment, discrimination, microaggressions, threats, or bullying
• Emergencies or violence
• Consent violations or accidents
• Rule violations
• Logistical mishaps
• Spammers, scammers, streakers, or hackers
• Arguments or other disruptive situations
