All Educators
</aside>
KBtL uses the term Educators to encompass all the different types of Educators that are involved in the Programming of KBtL. Each type of Educator (Presenters, Panel & Event Hosts, Panelists & Hosts of KBtL Sponsored Programming, and Social Hosts) are offered different Compensation Packages. This is based on the amount of work being done and the expectations of preparation and leadership required.
Educators giving more than one session may have complicated Compensation Packages. It’s important that as an accepted KBtL Educator, you refer to your acceptance email to get the full information about your individualized Compensation Package.
All KBtL Educators are also offered 1-2 sessions in the months leading up to KBtL on each of the following topics:
- Info session(s) for the platforms KBtL uses
- Session(s) with an established KBtL Educator on best practices for teaching at an event like KBtL
- Working session; exclusively for KBtL Educators
- Extended Access at either a significant percentage discounted or free, depending on the type(s) of session(s) accepted.

Presenters, Panel Hosts, & Event Hosts
</aside>
- Presenters prepare, teach and engage with attendees through classes, workshops, community discussions, lectures, and demos. Most of which are 90 minutes in length.
- Panel and Event hosts are responsible for creating the title and description, finding participants, and other preparation details related to hosting their Panel or Event. Panels offer a wide variety of experiences on a topic and events are generally more informal and less about education. In rare situations, KBtL will help Panel and Event hosts with their preparation.
- Note: The Keynote speaker is treated as a Presenter.
Presenters, Panel Hosts & Event Hosts are given the option to opt in or opt out of receiving financial compensation packages. These Educators that opt out will be considered “Volunteer Educators” and will not be given a financial stipend after the event.
All Presenters, Panel Hosts, and Event Hosts, regardless of their decision to opt in or out of financial compensation will be granted the following:
- 1 fully compensated admission to the full live weekend of events, sessions, socials, and ceremonies; and
- An exclusive discount code to offer to friends for a percentage off the ticket price for KBtL attendees.

Panelists & Hosts of KBtL-Sponsored Sessions
</aside>
- Panelists are recruited to give their ‘expert’ opinion for a specific topic. And while they are expected to prepare their answers and engage in professional behavior during their panel, they are not expected to host. Most panelists are given the opportunity to share for about 10-15 minutes during the total time (90 minutes) of the Panel.
